15 Days Until Spain: It’s Finally Starting to Feel Real

Today marks a milestone that feels both exciting and surreal. We are officially down to 15 days until we leave for Spain. For years, Spain was something we talked about and dreamed about. Now, with just 15 days remaining, it feels real in a way it never has before.

When I first started planning this move, I imagined there would come a moment when everything suddenly felt official. It turns out that moment arrived when I looked at the calendar and realized we only have 15 days left. Seeing that number staring back at me made my stomach flip in the best possible way.

Making the Most of These 15 Days

Today was another productive day as we checked more items off our moving list. One of the biggest accomplishments was arranging our transportation. I officially rented our car from Philadelphia to JFK and another vehicle from Madrid to Alicante.

After looking at every option available, driving from Madrid to Alicante made the most sense. Between our luggage, important documents, and Bane making the journey with us, having our own transportation will make these final 15 days feel a little less stressful.

Every decision now seems to be viewed through the lens of 15 days. Every appointment, every form, and every task gets measured against our departure date.

Why 15 Days Feels Different

There is something about having only 15 days left that changes your perspective. Six months felt distant. Three months felt manageable. Even one month felt like there was plenty of time.

But 15 days feels immediate.

The countdown has become impossible to ignore. Everywhere I look, I see reminders that we only have 15 days before we board a plane and start an entirely new chapter of our lives.

I find myself walking through our house and realizing that many of my routines only have 15 days left. The familiar roads I drive, the local stores I visit, and the daily habits I’ve built over the years are all nearing their final days.

The Little Tasks That Fill 15 Days

One thing I’ve learned throughout this journey is that moving internationally is really hundreds of small tasks wrapped into one giant life decision.

Even with only 15 days remaining, there are still things that need attention. We are currently waiting for our June bank statements so we can make a trip to Maryland and obtain the final documentation needed for our visa paperwork.

It’s funny how much can happen in 15 days. Some days feel incredibly productive, while others seem to disappear into phone calls, emails, and paperwork. Yet every completed task gets us one step closer to Spain.

Looking Back at the Journey

As I think about these final 15 days, I can’t help but reflect on everything that brought us here.

We’ve sold our house.

We’ve sold furniture.

We’ve downsized thirteen years of belongings.

We’ve planned Bane’s journey.

We’ve booked flights.

We’ve completed what feels like an endless amount of paperwork.

When I look at everything we’ve accomplished, I realize that the remaining 15 days are simply the last stretch of a much longer journey.

What I Hope to Remember About These 15 Days

As much as I am looking forward to Spain, I also want to be present during these final 15 days. It’s easy to become so focused on the future that you forget to appreciate the chapter you’re currently living.

These 15 days represent the closing pages of one story and the opening pages of another.

I want to remember the excitement.

I want to remember the anticipation.

I even want to remember some of the stress because it reminds me how much this dream means to us.

The Final Countdown

The closer we get, the more everything seems to be falling into place. The to-do list is getting shorter. The paperwork is nearly complete. The plans we’ve spent years making are finally becoming a reality.

Most importantly, we only have 15 days left until Spain.

Just 15 days until we step onto that plane.

Just 15 days until a completely new adventure begins.

Just 15 days until the life we’ve been planning becomes the life we’re actually living.

And honestly, I still can’t believe we’re finally here.
